What a FUN project <g> I did this last summer and installed 5.25" Polk speakers. As it was, that was about the limit in diameter you could do. The 5.25" speakers just touch the trim around the AC housing. Now, the bad news is all the cabinetry you have to take out to remove that cabinet. I removed my cabinet since I had to enlarge the holes to install the bigger speakers. At the same time I wanted to remove the evil pealing black foam wrap on the A/C condenser. The speakers are open to A/C components, so they are susceptible to moisture etc. I suppose you could enclose the space behind the speakers with some scrap wood if you were so inclined. So far, moisture has not been a problem with the speakers in my van in the A/C cabinet. I have a bad photo of them installed if you are interested. Oh, If you remove the back grilled panel at the rear of the lower A/C cabinet. (That faces the rear hatch) you can look inside with a flashlight and see the rear of the speakers and the existing space. You might want to do this, before you start tearing things apart to see what you are getting into. Also, read the Bentley to see all the cabinets you will need to remove to get that lower A/C panel out. Todd '88 Westy Adam Culp wrote: > All, > I am looking for new speaker for my van.
