As a woman traveling alone much of the time (oops, forgot the dog!), I find KOAs and such a safe place to stay for the night. Granted some are better than others - as far as personal space, grass, clean restrooms and showers. They are especially welcome after driving 6 to 8 hours. They are also a source of entertainment as retired folks in their HUGE RVs attempt to set up and take down their campsite - attaching their cars to the RVs is always a riot. I have on occasion gone the motel route, but these days when traveling with a dog you will get a room, but it will be a smoking room! I would just as soon stay in my van in a relatively safe place than deal with stinky motel rooms. Just another perspective... M. Holm 84 Westy |
