Subject:   Westfaila Tent Question ?

Well Volksies I finally got myself an original Westfaila side tent after years of searching for the "good" deal. Got it with a '72 Westfaila that is rusted beyond repair and had to take the bus to get the tent. Good news is that I got the whole enchilada for 100 bucks, CND to boot ! So the tent needed three mouse holes patched but is in otherwise perfect shape. The poles were rusted badly so I stipped, repaired the rusted thru parts, sandblasted the whole lot and had them powder coated the original light brown color for $150, CND again ! So now I have this really awesome tent standing in my yard. BUT.....I have this question ?????? There is a zippered window opening in the same side as the zippered opening for access to the van. This window opening is not screened as the other two window openings are. I can see no evidence of this opening ever haveing been screened. What's the skinny on this ? Is this how they were made ? And if so what the hell was the purpose of having a window with no screening ? Looking for a logical answer ! Ha ! Probably none, right ? Well, anyways, I thought I'd ask all you wise ones and see what comes up.

Cheers

Frank (with Westfaila side tent)
