Thanks all around for the universally positive feedback on the MOOG ball joints, and all things MOOG in general. Your responses were like the quote ads for a movie: "...extremely high quality..." "...excellent reputation..." "...good parts..."

Or maybe you all work for MOOG...

I'm confident with the mechanic that installed the joint. But he seemed to have doubts about the lifespan of the aggressive BFG All-Terrains on my Syncro GL. "Watch for uneven wear, rotate every thousand miles, won't last as long as the ones you're replacing", he said. This seems to contradict the experience of the Syncro community.

What pressures do folks run in their 27X8.5 BFGs? Will simple mods allow the spare to fit in the carrier?

I may be the only person to have two VWs in shop this week, 5000 miles apart. With luck, my '74 Thing will be on the road in NC today, for the first time in 7 years. I'm pleased (though broke) to keep Volkswagen's all-road vehicles alive.

Lots of Outside Westies in Fairbanks this week; any list members?

This weekend we're headed to Landmark Gap, off the Denali Highway near Paxon, a return to the best campsite I've found with my the Syncro. See you there?

Cheers, Chris Wyatt
