Connect timing light to #1 cylinder. Connect tachometer. Unplug idle stabilizer and plug the two connectors into each other. Adjust idle to 850 +/-50 rpm Set timing mark on inner pulley to match the line of the case halves. Remember to set your timing light to zero advance, if it has such an adjustment. That will give you 5 degrees ATDC. Shut down and reconnect idle stabilizer. If you want to, look at the timing again and see how it's jumping around -- that's how the idle stabilizer controls the idle speed.

For your reference, the other, rounded mark on the crank pulley is TDC.
