Subject:      Changing the ECU on 85 Vanagon

Thanks for all the suggestions on how to solve my intermittent stalling and poor running problems.
One suggestion was to change the ECU.  Although this is probably the most expensive option, I happen
 to have a spare ECU (the original for my 85 van which we thought was at fault one time but was'nt when
trying to find a previous problem, the heat sensor).  
Before I switch the ECU, which seems easy enough, can any one please tell me what to watch out for?
(I will buy Bentleys manual soon).
