I have the front end parts from a '90 Vanagon CARAT I rolled a couple of
years ago.  I just looked at them last night as I was cleaning up the
calipers from my '89 Syncro.  They don't look alike.  The top fluting on
the caliper is different on the '90.

Now, that's not to say that they might not be interchangeable.  The '90
parts were setting under the shelf, and I didn't pull them out for a REAL
close look, so they may be interchangeable.

The mounting did look similar, as did the spacing on the bolts.


LARRY, How close do you want me to look at the parts.  I could check them
out closer tomorro night if you wanted me to.  I've got tyhe whole front,
rotors and calipers, and all parts are easily accessable.

It has been suggested to me that the Syncro Front Brake Calipers are the same
as on non-Syncros. I thought that they were different because I know that the
rotors are different. Can anyone confirm either way?
