Subject: Re: Uncooperative Starter, could it be?

I too have had numerous problems with my "84 camper not starting. I thought it was just her personality. But could it be the solenoid? Last summer during a long, hot, hard trip through the desert, she would not start(turnover) until 1, 2, 12, or even 24 hours later. Sometimes she would even die while I was driving (this could easily be another, much larger problem). I gave her 8 months of R&R, and she started right up, but occasionaly, after a trip somewhere, when I turn the key it takes about 10 seconds of holding the key in the start position for it to turn over. Is this my problem? Any ideas? Also, where exactly do I find the solenoid, remove it, and perform treatment (or should it be replaced)?

Please let that be the problem. Kurt Stoppkotte
