Subject: common rust problem?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

While installing jump seats into my GL I noticed a bubbled rust spot on the floor just behind the front passenger seat/battery box a few inches inboard from the sliding door. After some poking with a screwdriver I discovered this patch was much larger than I first thought. It turns out this spot is in an area where a number of floor panels come together and there is a lot of joint sealer in the same area. It looks like the left to right frame rail just beneath this area has a couple of roughly 3/8" diameter holes of unknown purpose in the portion of the rail upon which the floor panels rest. I think these holes allowed some salt or salty slush to accumlate between the top of the rail and the bottom of the floor panels in this area causing almost complete rust through :-( Wondering if anyone else has noticed a problem in this area as this seems like a potential problem area. It's odd because the rest of the van (other than the seams) has been holding our against rust pretty well, no other rust through anyway.

Mark
