Here's another awning: I have a Sidewinder II by Carefree of Colorado. I bought it at a local RV shop; it is made 10 miles away in Broomfield. I have seen 2-3 others on Vanagons in the area.

I bought the 10' length; there is also an 8'. The awning rolls out to 8'. They have a special mounting bracket for Vanagons (plus a generic van bracket) and it is designed to hold the awning and clear a Westy poptop. The brackets clamp to the rain gutter.

They say the 10' requires two people to set up, but I can do it alone. I like the 10' because it really shades a lot of the Vanagon plus can hold the picnic table that we usually drag to be under it.

I've had it 2-3 years and really like it. The cross-section shape of the awning "box" (aluminum ) is not round like others but is rectangular.
