This question reminds me:

I noticed on my recent road trip that I cannot drive barefoot (on my right foot) if climbing long hills (or any kind of going slow) for very long. For some reason, the front heats up (and actually heats the accellerator pedal). This is independent of the fan/heat settings (all off)

I figure it must be related to one of two things: 1. Heat from the radiator and associated hosed transferring heat to the throttle linkage somehow at low speed (due to reduced airflow under the car) 2. Heat build-up in the front diff being transferred the same way (Syncro).
