The Syncro diff. lock is not as valuble as one may thing. I have a Syncro without it. It can be retro-fitted but the parts would be very expensive. I have done this in two vehicles, one was a 2 wheel drive Vanagon. The Syncro system works so well that almost every lock axle I have seen have been broke, or rusted in place. IMHO I would not give the axle lock much weight, when considering this vehicle. Eric 86-VW4x4 vw4x4@fyi.net 72-240z Pittsburgh, PA USA 1936-Chrysler
