Sorry that it took so long... I'm struggling with a torn Achilles tendon that tends to slow me down, not unlike a Vanagon going uphill <g> Anyway, someone asked what the diameter and lengths of the stock Westy springs are. These are the measurements taken off of my 1988 Westy springs with blue paint spots. Measurements are of the springs as taken out of the van. The diameters should be right on, but the lengths are plus or minus 1/8" (sorry I did not have a metric ruler) Front Springs: Length: 14 7/8" Wire diameter: .63" Rear Springs: Length: 11" Spring diameter coil 1,8: .46 Spring diameter coil 2,7: .56" Spring diameter coil 3,6: .63" Spring diameter coil 4,5: .67" Hope this helps the curious. P.S: I'm pretty sure that these are NOT the lower springs that were introduced in the 1988 model year. My Westy was manufactured in 3/88, which was before the change - IMHO. |
