Volks, I've been running Cooper Lifeliner tires on my '87 GL and have been very happy with them overall. They have the 1433lb load rating needed, have very good traction in the wet. I was at the Grand Canyon in slushy snow flurries, where they ran well , tho I would say overall a little harsher riding than the original Michelin MXL's. FWIW, my VW mechanic of 18 years has the Bentley manual(new) for sale at his shop. I understand they are hard to find these days. I don't really know if he does mail order but I'd be glad to help with shipping if neccesary. Car Craft 1006 La Cadena Drive East Riverside, CA 92501 909 7814480 Cheers!
