Well it has been a week now since I put the Freeze-12 in my '91 Carat Vanagon
and so far, so good. Actually almost as soon as the A/C became functional
the temperature dropped around here (figures) so I haven't used it that much.
Today it was around 85 degrees and after driving with it on constantly at
around 55mph for a half an hour or so it got too cold so I had to turn it
down to almost the skinniest part of the white band (didn't seem to get less
cold this way) and then turned the fan down to "2". It was still almost too
cold.
I just praise God for this stuff. I mean I really stumbled onto it by
"accident" at our local NAPA and it works so much better than straight
R-134a. I could live without A/C even in this heat, but I hate the thought
of my pregnant wife or 20 month old daughter riding in a hot van on a 100
degree day. They are the ones that need it.
Pressures seem good too. I had the van sitting at idle with the A/C on for
an extended period today (at the bank drive-thru window today) and after
sitting for about 10 mins the highest speed kicked in on the fan for a minute
and then kicked out again. So it seems like the pressures are about the same
as R-12 (pure R-134a works at higher pressures putting more stress on all the
components of the system).
I'll keep the list posted but the results are all still good.
