In cleaning up some light rust on my '85 I noticed some fairly bad rust through on the front wheel arch foot step. The rust is not visible at all unless you remove the rubber pad. Right side had fairly small patch requiring a 1"x2" welded patch. The left side is much worse and will require probably a 4"x6" patch or larger. Just a warning to everyone to regularly pull up that rubber pad and check under there. The holes in the metal apparently aren't sealed off all that well by the rubber pad "barbs" and salty water etc. must settle between the rubber pad and the step. I never pulled up the pad to clean out under there and I'm paying for it now. Mark |
