If your vacuum lines from the dashboard switch to the actuator, too, are ok, then I would simply replace the actuator with the original part. Removing the old (not your problem, as I see it) and installing the new actuator is a bit of a pain in the bottom, due to space constraints, but it helps to remember to put the tranny in granny gear while fumbling with the two thin bolts. Been there, done that.
