I have been on and off the list over the past two years, gathering useful info for my '89 (registered in 90) Syncro 7-passenger GL. I currently have Michelin 205/70 R14 tires on it, but will need to replace these in the next month or so (the tread is okay, but the tires are 10 years old). The Michelins are good, I know, but really expensive. The Yokohamas seem to be everybody's choice, but I am worried that the supply is low, since they aren't being made anymore, and if I need one in a few years I might not be able to it (or if I am on a trip I would have trouble getting one as well. Anyway, I am still considering the Yokohamas, but I read on the list in the last month or so that someone recommended the Cooper SRM II Radial LT tires. When I called a local dealership, they said these were available in the proper size (so maybe it was recommended for the regular Vanagon, huh?). They recommended instead the Lifeliner STE R14 205/70 tire, which is a light truck tire. Has anyone tried these, or can anyone recommend another tire? I never drive off-road, and Ohio winters are fairly mild snow-wise. I am mainly looking for a road tire. I welcome any suggestions. Thanks, Barry Armitage |
