Subject: Front and rear heater motors
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Hello

What is with the Vanagon heater motors and switches? I have an 82 and an 84 GL that both had problems with the heater blowers. The 84 used to squeal and went through switches like candy. The new 84 I just bought had both front and rear motors on the fritz. The rear appears to have worn brushes (is there a source for these?) and only runs when I press in on one of the brushes. The front heater motor didn't work for the first two weeks and then just started working one day (I had already replaced the switch with no effect). I would have troubleshot it and figured out what was bad if it hadn't fixed itself. I don't want the thing to die on me in the middle of the winter. Can anyone tell me what the deal is with these $#$@#$%$# motors.
