Subject: Michelin MXT Tires ... wow! Also: Waterleaker woes
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hi folks,

Well ... finally got those new tires for my '88 Wolfie and *wow* what a difference!! America's Tire had to order them in from Reno, so it took about a week to get them. Had them fitted this afternoon - the difference is incredible. No more pulling to the left, steering is much lighter, no more 'driving a billboard' effect on the freeway! I'm seriously impressed! 8-)

Now the bad news. A set of four tires (MXT-B 205/70R14R) including balancing, fitting and tax cost ..... $450. Ouch! Still, it's worth it. The old tires didn't have reinforced sidewalls & 'sag' was beginning to set in. The folks at America's Tire were great, too.

P.S. - I'm stupid. I recently got a new primary expansion tank for my WaterLeaker, but the coolant level sensor seal had been backordered. Well, a few folks on the list (hi, Joel!) warned me against re-using the old seal as it was sure to leak. Did I listen?? Noooo! It'll be juuust fine .. just for a few days ... add a bit of blue silicone .. everything will be OK....

Did it leak?? Yup! All over the place. Lesson learned!

Regards,

Pete C (recently 're-tired'!! 8-) )
