Subject: One week into it...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

A week ago I registered the 83 Vanagon. Actually both the 83 7 passenger and the 81 Westfalia, but since the 81 doesn't have a motor in it, this is about the 83... i love it. Reminds me of being younger and driving my 65 Ch*vy Van, sitting over the front wheels, making turns in an different way. My daughters love "daddy's van", and were dissapointed on Sunday when I showed up in my Toyota PU.

The good things... drives strong, 70 MPH all day on the freeway. Fun to manuver, lots of room. Tracks straight. Looking forward to making it into a weekender...

The bad things.... still leaks a bit of oil so it smells like burning oil.. the gas tank has a leak in it or one of those little pipes that goes into the top. Looks like a pain to fix. There looks like battery acid residue on top of the gas tank. Hmmm?

So here I am, looking forward to a long association with this thing...

Beats the hell out of a Fiat... tim
