I probably missed or ignored that post, but That foam stuff is all
over the outside of the evaporator.  You can kinda see the dark haze
in this picture:

It was easy to remove with a brush once all that stuff was yanked out
of the back, but I imagine it's a bit more involved with the unit in
place.

BTW, dropping the ductwork is not that hard.  You have to do it front
to back.  The hardest part is getting the front distributor off
because it involves taking the sunvisors off and the passenger side
visor has courtesy light wiring.  I had a heck of a time stuffing the
connector back in when reinstalling.

After that, it's just a matter of carefully removing the sealant
between sections (I didn't care how it came off since it wasn't going
back up) and there are 4 screws that hold the middle sections up.
Take them out and hose them out, maybe scrub out with bleach solution
to kill the nasties.
