My 89 camper is the same way until I added a pin switch (ordered from dealer), and wired in parallel to the other pin switchs. I later added a toggle switch by the sliding door, so it can be turn off for extended opening of sliding door. I wired an LED so I can find the override switch in the dark. The LED steals a few mA of current thru the light bulb without turning it on, saving running another wire. The LED lights up if the override switch is open or when the all the doors are closed (pitch dark). My website have some description - http://www.jps.net/vso/12vpower.htm
