An opportunity has presented itself today, out of the clear blue sky. I have been in contact with someone that is selling a '86 Westie with 85k original mile on it, for $8500. I have not seen the bus yet - a list member local to this Westie is taking care of that for me - but it may be worth the money. The only stumbling block is that of my beloved Phred. There is no question that if this comes to fruition, it will be an either/or situation. If I want the Westie, Phred goes. If I want Phred, no Westie.

So, what's Phred worth?

Phred: '88 Wolfsburg, Burgundy, 105k miles, excellent interior, auto trans, power mirrors, jump seats, fold down bed, table, captains chairs (non-swivel), six-speaker Blaupunkt stereo, CB, A/C, curtains. Exterior good, needs some attention to rust spots on the nose, drivers side seam, passenger rear panel. Mechanically excellent - just completed 500 mile trip to TBTT with nary a hiccup - engine strong, no leaks of oil or coolant. Factory alloy rims with MXT's in good shape.

IMHO, Phred's a great bus. If I had the financial wherewithal, there would be no discussion - I'd have both Phred and a Westie. So I'm looking to get a fairly accurate idea of what, should it come down to it, I can get for Phred.

TIA

Alan Bosch & Phred (phor now...)
