Subject:   transmission woes and new to list

Hi folks great list. I've recently purchased an 87 westy that will supplant my 76 westy thrasher. I love the new bus but it seems not to love me at least in one respect. Something's come loose inside the transmission, I can work the lever on the side of the gearbox by hand (as the shift linkage has let itself come loose at the ball and socket due to excessive travel) it feels like she goes into a gear but alas, no dice. (pardon the runon) Any feedback graciously accepted.

At any rate I've ordered a new/rebuilt gearbox from Fastgerman. Please tell me I'll be dealing with reputable folks there, and that I didn't just make a greivous error. I had to make my choice while the list was down :(

I hope to be back up and running soon. Anyone shopping for a 76 westy?

TIA Wade
