Only a possible prevention idea..... if you don't mind the looks:

I sealed all my seams, etc, with head gasket sealant. Don't know if the theory is any good, but it seemed like that would be better than regular silicon which I had heard had some properties like moisture retention and acidity that would make rust worse. After 3 Michigan winters the first application is still holding up and the rate of rust-growth along the seams has been significantly slowed.

Since I have a blue van, I used Blue ATV. I wonder if you could color the clear stuff? Or is there maybe even a product made for this purpose? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Steve
