"Haynes, VW Transporter Service and Repair Manual" 1982 -1990 entry:

"Radiator-Removal and refitting. Under Section 3, Note 2. "On models with airconditioning, the condenser is attached to the radiator, from which it can be separated after lowering the radiator. DO NOT disconnect te refrigerant lines from the condensor-See Section 13." (Section 13 addresses Air Conditioning General Information and precautions.
