If you're looking to get more ventilation (when parked), even (dare I say) a
breeze going through your van from fore to aft, consider what I did...have a
machine shop make a "door prop" for the hatch. It's a gizmo about three or four
inches long, one end fits on the hatch striker plate assembly on the body of the
van, the other end fits into the hatch locking mechanism when the hatch is
closed. This enables you to lock the hatch and still have the hatch door open
about an inch or two, depending upon the length of the door prop. With the pop
top up and the hatch propped open, it's cool and breezy inside the van. My local
machine shop charged $50 to custom make the prop.

IMHO, this is a much simpler solution to maintain security and get fresh air
into the van.  For more info check the archives for my post of about eighteen
