I am in the process of converting my 85 Westy 1.9 automatic to a GTi. I have the engine installed in the van, using a Kennedy adapter plate, which mated the l.8 GTi to the Vanagon automatic trans beautifully. I used the diesel engine mounts, and the engine is in the van, bolted up. The alternator seems to sit a little high, may have to put a dent in the engine compartment lid to close it down. The ac compressor clears nicely. The problem I have is the power steering pump. I am having trouble finding a place to put it, so the belt will clear. Has anyone solved this problem? I am sure I am overlooking a simple solution, and would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks, Larry
