Mmmmm, nah...I don't think it's air in the coolant system this time...this would be the likely problem if the engine temp is high, but I think Kate's stays on immediately after startup even when the engine is cold (correct me if I'm wrong, Kate!). The fact that it stays off after restarting makes the air-in-the-coolant theory the wrong one for this scenerio, unless Kate means restarting after a long cooldown. FWIW, mine stays on 5-20 seconds (or, less often, 20 minutes!) unless I turn the key only partway on for 5-10 seconds (to the first click, where the seatbelt light comes on, etc.), regardless of engine temp. Restarting works most times too.

Kate: Does this happen on cold starts as well as warm? Do you restart immediately? Does it sometimes go out on its own (without restarting) after a while? How long?
