Subject: Brazilian Eurovan Coming?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I have been told by reliable industry sources that Volkswagen/Brasil has now completed a production line for, and is about to start production of, Brazilian made T4 vans (Eurovans in U.S. lingo). These are virtually identical to the German version, with 5 cylinder, 6 cylinder, and diesel engines to eventually be available. It makes me wonder if the apparant decision to stop shipping at least some Eurovan models to Canada that was reported on this list a couple of months ago might be related to an undisclosed plan to sell Brazilian made "Eurovans" (could you still call them that? Brazilvans?) in Canada and/or the U.S. Just conjecture of course, or perhaps wishful thinking since a South American made EV could doubtless be sold here for less than a German one (perhaps making them a bit more competitive). At least, the gradual availability of less expensive Brazilian parts for EV's should make the van a bit more affordable for current owners to maintain. Anyone else hear of these Brazilvans yet?
