Dang, I hate it when things go like this. Right again. This morning I located a yard that had a parts vanagon I could get the shifter from for $30 if I pulled it. No problem. Except that once I had it out and could inspect it guess what, right, I loosened the set screw on the collar, slid it up and lo and behold a stress mark right where the old one broke. I gave the guy $15 and now I need to locate a new one. I've tried every dealer in MT to no avail. Several said they could order the part but It would take about 10 days and cost about $89 plus shipping.

Anyone know of a dealer or someone with parts that might have one on hand and hopefully a little less spendy.

Why, you might ask? You know, your lever broke, my lever broke, and some other guy's lever broke. Don't you think there is a possibility the used lever you get will break too? I did, and that was my approach when dealing with this, so I got a new one. I paid about $80 for it a year ago, here in Norway. That was on my previous Syncro, so maybe I should check the lever on the Syncro I know own, and maybe get a new lever, and wait for the old to break. Remember, the Syncro and 4-speed shares lever, the 5-speed is different.
