Do yourself a favor, remove that cap fix - it only removes the symptom (if done properly) but not the problem! (Properly done is + side of cap to pin 2, - side to pin 4)

The 5 min fix is to get some electronic cleaner at the FLAPS, carefully remove the cover of your AFM (it is siliconed closed from the factory), and spray liberally. Move the wiprer carefuly back and forth a few times. Let the cleaner evaporate.

Replace cover, and seal with a good tape.

Make sure it is electronic (not electrical) cleaner -evaporates super fast, very cold as it evaporates, comes in a can sorta like wd-40, many brands are good, they're all basically the same formula.
