Sounds like you popped one of the diaphrams in there. It's shot, there
is no cure.
You will not find an origional square box regulator unless you are VERY
lucky. No sweat though as the new "figure eight" regulators work and fit
just fine. You should be able to pick one up at about any RV store. Cost is
around $20 if memory serves.
They come in two flavors; with or without a brass fitting (forgot the
name) on the end. Otherwise they are identical (fitting screws off). That
fitting is identical to one you already have attatched to the old regulator
so no matter which one you get you will be ok. You will see what I mean when
you get to the RV store. While you are there also pick up a roll of Teflon
Tape to wrap around the threads to ensure a good seal. The tape is about two
bucks for a lifetime supply.
After shutting the gas off at the main valve and bleeding the tubing by
lighting the stove a minute or so the installation is simple and obvious;
the fittings on the ends of the regulator are different so you cannot put it
in backwards but as the "figure eight" is a little longer than the old box
you will have to bend the tubing a little to make it fit. Do this gently and
dont kink the tube. Dont forget to wrap a few turns of teflon tape on the
threads. PRESTO, your good for another 10 years.
The new regulators are supposed to be properly adjusted at the factory
so you should not have to mess with it altough some here on the list have
"tweaked" theirs and got better performance out of the fridge.
