If true, this IS exciting news! Maybe, just maybe, the EV will be priced in the range of a mid-level Chrapsler Mini-Thingy! I mean, it stands to reason the VW is moving this production to lower production costs. And with the current price of a EV approaching the $40K mark, anything is a improvement. The quality issue will no doubt raise it's head. But I had a '88 Fox GL Sport that was made in Brazil, bought brand new, and it ran for 193k miles without anything going wrong.
