I'm sorry if I bother you asking this question. I just have no other option at this moment in time. There is only one shop that will work on VW's in my town and they charge greatly for their services and do some what ok of a job. They have been known to do poor work in the past so I am trying to see if my problem can be fixed myself. I used your info to repair my clutch but I saw no info on my present problem. Here we go. The symptom is pretty simple if I let off of the gas at any time the engine dies. The idle originally was great but slowly over a week it began to get worse. It would run for a second or two then start to stall then pickup and run again for a second or two then try to stall again. Now I have to keep my foot on the pedal if I want the engine to run. The moment I let off the pedal for idle, it will idle for about 3 seconds and sputter out. It runs a little rough on the road but it will run as long as I keep the pedal down. Sound familiar? Please send any info you might have for me. My Vanagon is my only form of transportation, I've got to keep it alive. Much Thanks. -Chris |
