Both those vehicle will tow 1,000 pounds with no problem. As for hitches, I sell a class three type hitch that uses a 2" receiver bar. It replaces your bumper brackets and attaches to the chassis with three bolts on each side. Great for holding bike racks, luggage carriers etc. Bit pricey for light towing though($250). Reese makes a hitch that attaches to the tied down hooks on your bumper brackets. Light duty but effective. The Bus Depot has some hitches from VW South Africa that are also excellent.
