This ad was in the company swap and shop today:

'80 VW van: with 2.L Porsche engine. Needs work. 80k orig. miles with extra engine. $500 obo. Call Dusan at 903-662-0051

I called him. The Vanagon was running when he lent it to a friend who then tried to give a tune up. Now it doesn't run. That's the work he's refering to. He towed it home, and his wife has now told him to get rid of it. I couldn't get a straight story on why he calls it a Porsche engine or where he got it. The extra engine he says he bought from a dealer and used a few parts on his installed engine. Otherwise it is complete and still in the box. He says the body is in OK condition with rust spots but complete. This would be a great project for someone or a parts car. I don't know how many sets of FI stuff there are between the 2 engines.

It is located in Lone Oak, Texas, about 65 miles east of Dallas, on US 69 south of I 30. I haven't had a chance to check it out. All disclaimers. Now you know all I know.
