Subject: 87 Vanagon Need New Engine in So. Ca. 2.1L Help??
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello there.. I have a 1987 Vanagon Wolfsberg that has 30lbs compression in #3 cyl and 130 in all the others. I have been given two choices (so far) on repair. The first is to repair #3 for $1200.00 or the second is while repairing #3 re-ring the others and valve job, main bearings for $2000.00... Is there a reasonable source for a long block in the Southern California area that is also reliable ?? I would like to hear from any one directly with your views.. Good or bad would like to also know who to avoid in this adventure.. I would prefer a turn key job but I can change the engine out myself if it would be a great savings... My long term idea for this Van is to keep it because it is in great condition other than the motor at this time...

Thank You for and and all input.... Alan..
