Is there any reason why, if you wanted an alternator with more punch,
that you could not substitute an alternator (like the one below)
for the stock Vanagon alternator? (assuming that the mounting were
correct)

Does having a higher output alternator buy you anything other than the
ability to handle more electrical devices while the motor is running?
