Hi Matt:

I went through this too!

The fridge has no moving parts (except a fan, which likely won't come on untill the van itself is hot inside). Doesn't make noise, and takes time to cool down. ZZZZZZZ

Leave it on 12V or AC overnight, and see if it is cooler in the morning, before you worry too much.

There is the possiblity of a fuse gone - others will suggest other things.

Thank you all for the prompt and informative reply to my propane tank question. I have another in what will become a bunch of questions for all of you I am sure ( new westy/vanagon owner). I notice that the fridge has 3 way power. I have no propane in the tank now but shouldn't I be able to run the fridge on 12VDC? I switched it to the 12v setting and have seen heard felt no results. Is there some trick to getting the fridge going? Does it make any noise at all when operating 12v or on AC power? Are the Dometic units known for good or bad service and are repairs/parts still out there for this brand? I appreciate any fridge wisdom that anyone can provide. THANKS EVERYONE...eventually I will get familiar enough with this bad boy to bug you less!

Matt Brickell
