Joel - I appreciate the info. I've already checked the grounding points behind the fuse/relay panel (#8 & #10). Seems this would be a logical place, but again according to Bentley the '86 uses a unique location for grounding and it appears no other circuit uses this same spot (#12 left front crossmember).

Kinda makes me wonder if the Syncro uses somewhere other than what the Bentley prescribes. If nobody knows the answer to this for sure, I'll just go snip this wire and ground it somewhere else.
