You should also apologise for your ignorance. When a pump tries to pump a liquid and the inlet of the liquid is restricted, a vacuum or at least a partial vacuum occurs and in some cases can pluck material from the pump components. The evidence of a pump going into cavitation is a buzzing or a whining sound. Most other hydraulics engineers will tell you the same thing. Steve |
