While it has been a while since I read about them, evidently lots of applications use, or USED to use natural gas in compression-ignition motors...from pumping stations to power plants. It only requires a small amount of "carrier oil" to ignite the gas/air mixture. At a library book sale I picked up a bunch of OLD books from the 1930's-1950's on diesel engines and they described the above in detail.

Hey Folks,

I believe that Freightliner is comming out next year with a duel fueled truck series for urban short run/ smog areas. Propane and diesel - something about the EPA and % of fleet requirements. So this vehical starts on diesel until warm then switches to propane. and of course if you run out of propane back to diesel to get home.
