Hi Volks:

Since we are talking about engine conversions again, I have an interesting (to me, at least) idea, for your comments:

Convert a Diesel engine to run on propane.

Why: Fuel is much much cheaper - here, diesel is $0.52/lite, and propane is $0.32/litre. Possibility of phenominal range. Allows vehicle to use both fuels (gas and propane), if my memory is correct

How: Put tank under rear seat - requires removal of rear heater core, (methinks), get conversion kit locally for gas2propane - all taxicabs here use propane - it works. Great national fuel distribution system, too.

Concern: Energy density of propane. How does this compare on a litre by litre basis with diesel?

Concern 2: Change in handling of van, with major mass moved to rear (remember - no need for gasoline in tank, all the time)
