Subject:      Idle problems with AC on

I have an '85 GL with AC.


In the last two weeks I've noticed erratic idle leading to stalling when the
air conditioning compressor is on.  Is it safe to assume this is one of the
idle boost switches (to the right of the engine compartment) failing?


If this is the case, i sure would like to find one of these used--I hate
being at the mercy of the dreaded VW dealer here.  I'm fighting with them
already on  defective cooling fan on my partner's 96 Jetta.
