I assume you have the tinted plastic film applied to the insides of your windows. I've removed this from both of my cars (thanks PO's). I was able to begin with a loose corner, and carefully pull the film off in (almost) the entire sheet from each window. The glue left behind on the glass seemed to dissolve best with alcohol. Rubbing alcohol (get the 90% instead of the 70%) was cheap and easy to find. A rougher surface, like a terry towel, worked better than something smooth like a sponge.

I didn't reapply tinting film- although the super flat & square windows of a vanagon are easier than curved ones!
