Greetings Volks.

As many of you know, Uhaul, GoWesty and many other fine dealerships make a
towing hitch for our beloved Vanagons.  Most of these hitches attached to
the two tie down loops just below the bumpers.

I have heard rumors that the tie down loops eventually crack, and or break
the welds under normal towing use.

Is this Fact or Fiction?  I'm sure many of us would like to know.
