Subject: Should I buy this bus???
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I need some advice about purchasing a l971 camper that I found this weekend. Body has been handpainted "hippie-style" but looks pretty good. They did some bondo work, sanding and heavy duty priming. The rear motor door has rust on edge and no lock, there is no bumper, (or window screens, or baby cot), a split canvas on upper cot, rust on both edges of front floorboard right where it joins to the door. Doesn't look like any other bad rust.

It runs good, transmission's good, tires so-so. He wants $1000 for it. I was thinking about buying it, fixing it up a bit more cosmetically in the interior (curtains, new carpet, radio, etc.) and trying to sell it later if I decide not to keep it. Here I am with my '81 Vanagon getting a transmission job and I'm thinking about buying another VW bus!! I am looney, I know, but I sure do love these things. This is not a deluxe --just ice-box fridge & sink.

What do you guys think? Is this a good deal?
