Hi James, Our wasserboxers are set up to run 87 usa octane. It should get the most power and burn cleaner with 87. However if it is timed too fast or has some carbon build up in the cylinder heads it could run better with higher octane. I often run 89 with contains 10 percent alcohol to remove any water and clean out the fuel system. A can of injector cleaner may work as well. That being said many run higher octane and claim better power and performance. As always ymmv (your mileage may vary). Darrell
